The researcher contrasted recognition of the Spanish preterite and imperfect by students who used web 2.0 technology with those who used electronic workbook technology. Results reveal that the use of web 2.0 technologies has a positive effect on learning the Spanish preterite and imperfect.

This paper sets the stage for the articles selected for the special issue "Language learning and social media: (r)evolution?". Starting with some definitions of mainstream terms like "social media", "web 2.0", "social web", "social networking sites (SNS)" and "web 2.0 language learning communities". The purpose is not to "reinvent the wheel" by suggesting new definitions, but to synthesize definitions of mainstream terms and juxtapose them to similar concepts from CALL literature.

El aprendizaje autónomo a través de las redes sociales

La finalidad de este trabajo es comprobar si la capacidad autónoma del aprendiente mejora con una utilización para tal efecto de la red social facebook en el aula ELE. Las redes sociales, como parte de la llamada web social o web 2.0, están cobrando un papel cada vez más relevante en la educación y también en la enseñanza de lenguas. El objetivo de esta investigación es utilizar las herramientas que ofrece esta red social para el trabajo de la autonomía y comprobar los resultados con los de su tratamiento a través de procedimientos convencionales.

"There is no doubt that online education has arrived in Higher Education. Each year, the numbers of colleges and universities offering online courses increases. There is certainly appeal for these types of courses: students can better fit them into busy schedules and traveling to campus is no longer required. While I dabbled in teaching hybrid and online courses for a while, I have been teaching online for most of the past two years.
